Acceptional Minds LLC is a family-focused support and mentoring program whose primary goal is to provide assistance to families impacted by Autism and other behavioral and/or mental health issues through mentoring and education. Acceptional Minds is looking for patient, kind, and flexible candidates who can assist in our alternate school program, center-based programming, and our family support specialist program. This candidate will be fully trained in all programs and help out where needed or where they fit best. This position will also train in our school crisis response program.

Job Requirements:

While working in our alternative school program, candidates will be responsible for working with children in grades K-12 in both small group and 1:1 settings. This program supports individual educational processes, behavior management, social, emotional, and executive functioning skills, and enrichment activities. This position will assist with daily living activities such as getting ready for school, preparing meals, doing chores, completing homework, and going on outings.

Our Center is open from 7am-7pm M-F and Saturday from 10-5. This position will primarily work 5 weekdays 7:45am-3pm one week and 4 weekdays 7:45-3 pm the following week. This position requires one Saturday a month (which replaces a weekday shift). The schedule may occasionally flex to meet center needs.

Candidates must be over 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Ideal candidates will have previous experience working in a school setting or experience working with children with special needs and behavioral self-regulation challenges. Acceptional Minds considers any lived/personal experience as qualified previous experience and candidates that meet these criteria are encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate a calm, kind, and open demeanor. Candidates must also be able to organize, prepare and execute enrichment activities with students. 

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be willing and capable to accept the physical requirements of the job. Candidates are eligible for reasonable accommodations with appropriate medical documentation based on the candidates’ needs. Physical activities may include but are not limited to bending, twisting, stooping, and, or standing for 50% or more of the time. Candidates must be willing and capable of physically engaging clients in active moments such as outside games, yoga, and other fitness-related activities. In the event of maintaining the safety of a client, candidates may occasionally need to assist clients as they process through the event.

CPR, AED, and First Aid training is preferred but will be provided upon hire if needed.

Starting pay is $16-18/hr.
